Work out routine

What's the best workout routine for losing weight in the upper thighs - inner and outer thighs. I do weights and cardio, but what I'm doing is not working. HELP!

Sadly, localized fatloss is not something that can be achieved naturally. The body will decide itself where fat will come off of, and in what order. Usually this means first on, last off. There are of course some lotions that may aid in spot reduction.

Which lotions "work"? I've seen ads for hundreds of them but honestly thought they were all scams since 99% of all infomercials I see end up being scams. Thanks!

I have personally used a product called "Lipoderm Ultra" by a company called Avant Labs and had good results. Now these products aren't miracles and you still have to burn the fat that gets freed from applying the product. Still, it does help with problem areas, in my experience.

Fat loss occurs from the outside in. Extremeties first, core second. You can thank evolution for that one. Protects the vital organs first

So, I've been going back & forth on this subject, mostly with myself... is there really any validity to site/body-part specific workouts besides hypertrophy? I know that building the muscle is important for definition once the flab is gone, but what if muscle-growth isn't needed for a certain body part?

Case in point, I have a really nice chest built that's been burried under a layer of flab the last couple of years (mostly the lower-outer pecs). I'm still in the process of shedding a lot of excess flab in general, but my chest is what really bothers me. Of course, right now the weight is mostly coming off my face, arms, and some from my waist. Is there a point to me doing something like dumbell flyes, decline bench or a semi-wide grip bench press? The muscle is already there, just need to rid the fat.

You can increase the reps with your chest work to concentrate on increasing nutrient capacity that will give the appearance of being leaner but the same amount of fat is still there. Sadly with men who hold fat in ther chest and/or waist its the last place to go because of its receptor makeup. (similar to waist, thigh areas of women)

Hi everyone. Just came over from AM. Looks like a great site so far. I agree with Grunt & Admin. It would be great if you could target specific areas but it just doesn't work that way. I've managed to drop about 30lbs in the last 4 months or so through getting back in the gym/dieting and the love handles and chest are finally starting to receed a little.

Stick with a good workout routine and cardio along with a good diet and it will come off eventually.

PS: The only method I know of for selective fat loss is Liposuction. And I'll be damned if I'mm gonna let someone poke a Kirby nozzle in me.

Stupid chest-fat...

Yeah, I've been leaning toward what Admin's saying, and focusing more on fat-burning in general (adding cardio, etc.), and hoping it'll start coming off the love handles & chest soon.

I'm also just starting a little "experiment" with some Lipoderm-Y...

Yeah, it sucks, but so-called "spot training" just does not work well. You can lift and build muscle to tone the areas that need help, but you also need to do cardio (at fat burning HR) to burn the fat. It will come off where it wants to though; it just depends on how you are built - funny, in my case, it comes off of the top of my body first...I have always been real lean up top, and not so lean on the bottom.

Hey! I know...how about you trade me some of that chest fat for some of my "bottom half" fat, Mass_69?!

Sure thing, but you have to take some of my love handles, too.

It's been said, but I'll say it again. You can not spot reduce fat. You lose it where you lose it. A clean diet-and if you think you're eating clean be honest w/ yourself-and intense workouts (60 sec or less between sets, along w/ HIIT for cardio) is your best bet.

for inner and outer thighs, use the hip adduction and hip abduction machines in addition to the cardio. you should notice a strenght and muscle gain within about two weeks. cardio of course will get the fat off of the outside, but you may as well make sure that your muscles look good when they start to show. my physical trainer put me on a weight training program that does three sets on each exercise. 15 reps at low weight, 14 reps increase weight some, 12 reps at the max you can do to finish reps. make sure to do slow and controlled only resting 30 seconds in between sets. do every other day.
hope this helps. i have lost 3 inches around each thigh in about a month of doing this. i also do an hour of cardio daily.
