| Top Seven Fat-Burning Foods Top Seven Fat-Burning Foods Yesterday morning, on “the fan”, Fox News presented a clip hosted by Tanya Zuckerbrot, Dietitian, who gave a rundown of the top fat-burning foods and why they are at the top of the list. Here they are, according to Tanya: 1) High fiber cereal for breakfast Starting off your day with a high fiber breakfast (shoot for at least 5 grams of fiber per serving) can help slow insulin production. Fiber takes a long time to digest, and you feel fuller longer. 2) Citrus Fruits (lemons, oranges, limes) These fruits increase metabolism by making it easier to burn fat. Studies show that by increasing vitamin C intake, your body can more easily burn fat during activity. 3) Peppers They contain Capsasin, which can speed up heart rate and metabolism and can still burn up to 3 hours after a meal. 4) Omega 3s, found in Salmon, Tuna, Sardines Omega 3 boosts the level of Leptin in the body. Leptin is a hormone that directly affects metabolism. If you don’t like fish, pop a fish oil capsule; this is just as effective. 5) High Protein Food (lean red meat, chicken, turkey, fish) Protein helps to protect your muscles during weight loss. It is very important to get enough protein to stay healthy! 6) Pistachios This healthy nut helps to control serum glucose levels. Nutrient dense, full of fiber and antioxidants, pistachios give you more bang per calories than any other nut. 7) Green Tea It contains caffeine, which can help speed metabolism. |
